Northwest Center for Community Mental Health
Work with adolescents with emotional issues and/or child victims of domestic violence. Group leaders needed for youth ages 12-17 years old who are experiencing emotional problems, and for socialization and recreation groups for children from domestically violent homes. Volunteers are also needed to work as tutors or activity aides for a therapeutic children’s group home for children ages 6-13 experiencing emotional trouble.

Hispanic Committee of Virginia
Enthusiastic volunteers are needed for HCV's literacy program, "Arroz con Leche," to help children develop language skills through games, projects, and theatrics and its mentoring program, "Alianza Escolar," to serve as mentors for Hispanic middle school students, helping them with school work and offering friendship and advice.

Orthotic & Prosthetic Assistance Fund, Inc. (OPAF)
One day each month OPAF (in cooperation with the DC Jewish Community Center) organizes special events for children staying at The Hospital for Sick Children, a long-term rehabilitation hospital in Northeast DC. Volunteers spend three hours interacting directly with the children at the hospital, providing a fun environment through playing games, offering arts-and-crafts activities, and, most importantly, simply spending time with the kids.
