Belvoir Woods Health Care Center
This Health Care center in Ft. Belvoir offers many volunteer opportunities
including one-on-one visiting, writing letters, bingo, birthday parties,
being a clown, and guest speaking opportunities for classes.

This long-term care agency encourages a long-term commitment with its residents.

Fairfax Area Agency on Aging
Programs for volunteers including: Friendship, volunteers serve in one on one
match-ups with homebound seniors; Meals on Wheels, volunteers deliver lunch
to homebound elderly; Pets on Wheels, volunteers and pets visit residents
of area nursing homes. Several more volunteer positions are available by
contacting the Volunteer Development Unit.

The Alzheimer's Family Day Center
A day care center for adults with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias
provides activities aimed at improving participant’s quality of life.
The center also provides respite for families. Volunteers are needed for
one-on-one contact and in small group situations. It is imperative that volunteers
have concern and care for the elderly. Training is provided.

Goodwin House
A non-profit corporation providing continuing life care to senior adults in
Northern Virginia is perfect for volunteers looking to provide personal and
group services; staff assistance; and at-home services. Training is provided.

Lewinsville Day Health Care for Older Adults
This active, safe, and optimistic environment for cognitively and physically
impaired seniors also offers respite to family caregivers. Volunteers are needed
to provide one-on-one attention, assist with activities and programs, and share

Volunteers assist with various activities, teach classes, and serve as office

Sunrise at Bluemont Park Retirement Community
Seniors need friendly volunteers to play games, help out at meal times, take
participants for walks, and read to them, etc. For more information contact

Powatan Nursing Home
Powatan provides care for the elderly who are no longer able to live independently.
Volunteers are needed for group services (i.e. putting on shows for the residents);
offering support services, which include typing, playing bridge, reading,
and creating any way to make the environment more like home; and being visitors
for those who do not receive many. The nursing home would prefer a yearlong
commitment. Training is provided.

Prince William Area Agency on Aging
This agency needs many volunteers to assist in a variety of ways. Office assistants,
counselors, maintenance volunteers, visitors, food-deliverers, and many other

Sleepy Hollow Nursing Home
This is a recreation facility offering various types of activities to senior
citizens. Small “field trips” requiring transportation and lunch
are also given. Volunteers are needed as visitors, to accompany outings,
to assist with programs, and to participate in recreational therapy. Training
is provided.

This multi-purpose center for individuals 60+ is for those who have economic
and social needs. Volunteers should be interested in social work, gerontology,
recreational therapy, etc. Volunteers are also needed for general cleaning.

Tall Oaks Fellowship House
This home for the elderly gives the most independence possible to its residents,
offering services tailored to provide flexibility and balance the need factors
of an aging person. Volunteer opportunities include: friendly visitors, activity
aides, drivers, escorts, and entertainers. Time may be used to fulfill field
service or practicum hours toward a degree program.

The Center provides community based day health care in a safe and positive
environment to individuals with a variety of cognitive and functional limitations.
