Black Peer Counseling Program
The Black Peer Counseling Program was originally initiated in an effort to provide emotional support and outreach services for Black students attending George Mason University. Peer Counselors are university students who have demonstrated their concern to support Black students on campus and who receive special training and on going supervision to provide peer support. Multicultural Research & Resource Center
The Multicultural Research and Resource Center (MRRC) fosters and coordinates multicultural program development on the GMU campus, identifies and distributes resources on diversity, provides a clearinghouse for requests related to multicultural and diversity programs both on and off campus, and advises students and faculty on the availablility of programs and training opportunities. Substance Abuse Programs & Services educates the GMU campus community on the impact of alcohol and other drugs in an effort to reduce consumption among students and decrease alcohol and other drug related campus community problems. The Freshman Center
The Freshman Center creates an atmosphere of community spirit and pride for George Mason freshmen and offers "University 100," a unique program to help freshmen assimilate into the George Mason University community. The Women's Studies Research & Resource Center
Provides referrals and resource information to students, faculty, and staff. Topics covered include women’s health and empowerment, sexual assault, sexual harassment, feminism, racism, sexism, classism, and homophobia. In addition to providing a library, the Center hosts lectures, conferences, and other public events to promote a sense of community on campus and to raise awareness of women’s issues. Internships are available at the Center and the office provides a list of other volunteer and internship opportunities in the DC/Northern Virginia Area. The Writing Center
The University Writing Center is a free writing resource open to everyone involved in the George Mason community; including undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Individual, group, and online tutoring sessions are available. If you're a strong writer in any major and have good interpersonal skills, contact the Center in Robinson Hall, Room A114 for more information about becoming a peer tutor.

Health Education Services creatively delivers health-related information to the GMU community through awareness education and skill building activities. Office of Housing and Residence Life (OHRL)
OHRL has a number of ways to get involved on campus! Participating in Project P.R.I.D.E. (Promoting Responsibility in Damage Elimination), the Resident Student Association (RSA), and becoming a Resident Advisor (RA) are just a few ways to get involved and demonstrate your leadership. The RA selection process occurs toward the end of each semester.

The Student Media Group is part of University Life and integrates fee-funded student media organizations within a learning community. Students gain invaluable media knowledge and skills through experiential learning, internships and special projects by working with the various media organizations.
