The March of Dimes
The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects and infant mortality. Volunteers needed as telephone recruiters, clerical assistants, and some special events. Groups are great for this opportunity.

National Capital Chapter of National Multiple Sclerosis Society
MS is a chronic, often disabling neurological disease that affects the brain's ability to control functions such as walking, talking, seeing, hearing, arm movements and more. Alexandria Hospital
Senior volunteers, ages 17 years old and up, provide extra services like delivery of newspapers and mail and also serve as patient escorts. Depending on the department, there are additional responsibilities. Great opportunities for health care professionals.

The Family Respite Center
A non-profit, tax exempt corporation that provides programs for adults with severe memory loss and their families. Volunteers assist with day care at the center, classes for care givers and support groups and with field trips with early stages of Alzheimer.

Fairfax County Health Department
Needs Spanish speaking volunteers to assist with Spanish language translation in all of the clinics. Other languages are helpful at some of the other sites as well. Help is especially needed for Bosnian and Haitian refugees. Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday. Morning and afternoon shifts are available.
