Find Service Opportunities
If you are looking for a service opportunity, whether for a course requirement, student organization project, or internship, we have a variety of resources available.
CLCE keeps a list of community organizations who have a sustained partnership with Mason faculty and students. A link to the PDF of the list is in the resource group available below.
This local volunteer center maintains a database of current volunteer opportunities, which you can search by your own criteria, such as: location, volunteer interests or your applicable skills. Most of the nonprofits and service agencies in our area post both their volunteer and their donation needs with Volunteer Fairfax.
AVAIL is a state-wide (soon to be nation-wide) searchable database of volunteer opportunities. We highly encourage you to create a profile with this service (free and secure) and visit it often for opportunities that match your interests.
Center for Leadership and Community Engagement Facebook Group
Join our Facebook group and receive occasional notices about service opportunities, including volunteerism, courses, and alternative break applications. You can also post photos and comments about your own service events – great for student organizations to promote their activities.
Alternative Break
Over winter, spring and summer breaks, as well as occasional three-day weekends, student teams travel near and far to address community needs through direct service. You have the option of earning course credit for these experiences as well.
Mason has many student organizations focused specifically on volunteer service.
Many of the activities sponsored by Weekends at Mason involve volunteer work.
