Info Session for Community Organizations on Hiring Students through the Federal Work-Study Program

Enterprise Hall, Fourth Floor Conference Room
May 3, 2012, 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM

RSVP to this event

Federal Financial Aid for college students includes a program called Federal Work-Study (FWS). This program provides funding for students to be hired as paid employees.  Most FWS positions are on the college campus itself, however, the FWS program includes the option for students to earn these funds through service in their local community.  For most of these employers, a 30% match is expected.

To learn more about this program, please attend this information session by the staff of Mason's Center for Leadership and Community Engagement.  The processes for posting positions, hiring and paying students in your organization will be described, including an information packet with all the necessary forms (these will also be provided electronically).  We will also include workshopping time so you can explore how to make use of this program's flexibility in order to best meet you organization's needs.

All are welcome. For questions, contact Wendy Wagner: wwagner4@gmu.edu.

Parking: Visitor parking in the Shenendoah Parking Deck.  We will provide you with a parking validation.
Directions:  For directions to campus and a map, please consult Mason's web, http://www.gmu.edu/resources/welcome/Directions-to-GMU.html
After entering campus, proceed around Patriot Circle and turn toward the center of campus on Sandy Creek Way. Take the first left into visitor parking on the ground level of the Shenendoah Parking Deck. Exit the deck on the third floor. In front of you will be a roundabout. Walk to the left past parking services and cross the road. The building directly across the traffic circle is Enterprise Hall.

Sponsored by Center for Leadership and Community Engagement.
